Our Story
I’ve struggled with my weight pretty much as long as I can remember.
I have always seemed to gain weight quite easily. It started in school…I went through most of school quite chubby until eventually I didn’t like what I looked like. I decided to make a change.
I spent the last 2 years of school doing a workout session in my room every day. By the time I left school I was at a very healthy weight and I managed to keep at that weight for the next couple of years…that is until I landed a desk job working long shifts! That’s when it went very down hill.
I got up to 17 stone ( 108kg ) and, at only 5ft 7 inches, that’s hard to carry. When working out and lean I come in around 72kg
I also smoked 20 cigarettes per day and did so for around 6 years.
My daily routine was to wake up, have eat toast and begin my commute to work. My job was busy and stressful so most days I didn’t get time to eat during my 12 hour shift…if I was lucky i’d get a bag of chips in.
One Christmas I caught a chest infection and while I was lying in bed feeling sorry for myself I dragged myself out of bed to go outside in the freezing cold for a cigarette, it was at that point I realised just how bad my habits had got.
The same week I stopped smoking and never looked back. I used the extra money to join a gym and 4 days a week id be at that gym at 6 am doing boring cardio ( because I thought that was the norm ) that lasted about 4 months until I could run for a hour but still was very overweight. I used to watch the people in the weight area really wanting to give it a try but my self confidence was very low.
One day I went in and the gym had been re designed, they had put all of the weights on one side of the gym but left one far corner with just 2 benches and some weight s that went up to 20 kg and 1 cable machine.
I that this it it im giving it a go, after watching plenty of you tube videos had a little routine.
I stayed in that corner every week 5 days a week for about another 4 month but by the end of the 4 months a lot had changed I was down bout 19 kg ( 3 stone ) and felt my confidence growing every week. Finally I made my move into the big weights area and finally didn’t feel like I didn’t belong. By the time the year finished my body composition was completely different I got down to 11 stone ( 70kg )
The manager of the gym came over and told me he had been watching my progress and said he was highly impressed and wondered what I did for a living. I told him about the long hours boring desk job, he offered me a position as a personal trainer, all I had to do was get qualified. I booked myself on a corse and never looked back.
now a new pattern would appear, every winter I would bulk to put on muscle mass, thats normal, but I would always end up around 25% fat and every spring id do a very low calorie cut to come back down to around the 12 % fat mark. But even at that weight I seemed to have certain areas of stubborn fat that I would really struggle to loose, I could have a six pack on the front but still have love handles at the back, i tried many diets over the years and had many trainers, from so called online guru’s to former MR Olympia nominees. I used to think low carb meals little and often was the only way to get the weight down, until one day I come across some studies on Keto, I couldn’t believe what I was reading and I couldn’t believe more people weren’t doing this amazing diet. Eating fat to loose fat with a little help from fasting every now and then, I now live the Keto life and couldn’t be happier, meal prep is easy I love how black and white the food is, quite simple rules to follow and amazing energy levels, no more dragging myself out of bed in the morning and mid afternoon naps.
Even better my hormones have been put in check and the horrible areas I would normally hold onto fat have subsided and I finally loose body fat from everywhere without love handles. i get to sleep now without any problems and wake up feeling great.
Now I am on a mission to get more people to experience this fantastic way of weight loss and living, its not just a fad diet and I will provide information over the 12 weeks via blogs and emails to give you all the info you require.
